Luke H. Thornton


I am an Agricultural Communication student in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. I am also working to obtain my New Media certificate from the New Media Institute of Grady School of Journalism. I have an interest in marketing, advertising, and the intersection of agriculture and new technology. I also have a background in print production and graphic design.


Communications and Member Services Intern

Assist with document creation and maintenance within the department. Responsible for creating press releases related to Georgia EMC programs such as Washington Youth Tour and Georgia Centennial Farms. Also responsible for creating social media plans for programs as well.

Assisted with the service and repair of farm equipment from multiple manufacturers. Assisted with the harvest and sales of hay products. Assisted with the preparation of fields for other crops.

Advertising and Publications Volunteer

Track all advertising sold for the tractor pull fundraiser, and collecting all advertisements into the event program layout and coordinating the printing of program. Create promotional posters and prepare mailers to be sent to all previous participants.

Completed color production orders in an efficient manner using a Xerox iGen4 EXP digital color press. Also verified quality standards were met for all orders. Completed black and white production orders in an efficient manner using an Oce VarioPrint 6000 digital press. Also verified quality standards were met for all orders. Completed both printing and finishing of wide format orders and verified quality standards. Assisted as needed as secondary pre-press associate. As business needs dictated, also assisted in finishing, bindery, and shipping departments.
